FRED SLATTERN PRESENTS TOTAL GRAVEYARD BLUES

For the month of January TOTAL GRAVEYARD BLUES is curated by FRED SLATTERN, Colchester’s own slum poet. The honour is bestowed on KAOS to tie in with the release of his album NOT FOR PROPHETS which is one man’s journey and personal exploration of the Delta. The story goes…..

FRED has immersed himself in the delta blues. But he’s from the Thames rather than the Mississippi, and any soil between his toes is from The Fens of eastern England. Despite the disconnect in time and space, FRED believes that Robert Johnson, the legendary delta blues singer from the 1930s, is speaking directly to him. NOT FOR PROPHETS is the odyssey of a man looking for authenticity through his music collection, but facing his own truths and demons at the crossroads.

So…..every morning this month the sacred Austin 3AM quiet slot for American insomniacs comes with added assertion while the England 9AM breakfast bout brings best butter with its toast as a sobering rise. Regardless whichever side of the Atlantic the listener is on, they are assured a most soulful slide.

Lined up instinctly aside the natural selections of Robert Johnson comes shines from Blind Willie Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Lonnie Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Blind Boy Fuller, Lightnin’ Hopkins, Lead Belly, Charley Patton, Ma Rainey, Son House, Sonny Boy Williamson, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Memphis Minnie, Blind Blake, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Mississippi Sheiks, Mississippi John Hurt, T-Bone Walker, Bukka White, John Mayall, Fleetwood Mac and John Lee Hooker with who I (JGRAM) and FRED share a birthday with.

FRED can be found here:

https://fredslattern.wordpress.com/

As stated the show plays daily at 9AM London and 3AM Austin as one pure groove.
